A 48-year-old man was convicted in a drug possession case linked to events investigated in Rosario de la Frontera. The ruling was issued after a hearing in the Metán judicial district, where the defendant admitted responsibility and the court approved a fast-track plea agreement.

The investigation began after a resident of the Santa Teresita neighborhood reported unusual activity at a local house and raised concerns about possible drug dealing in the area. The case file was opened and investigative measures followed, including detentions.

Suspended sentence and case dismissed for the other defendants

During the hearing, Judge Carolina Poma Salvadores approved the agreement and convicted the man of simple drug possession. He received a three-year suspended sentence, meaning he will not serve time in prison as long as he complies with court-ordered conditions.

The judge warned that the benefit can be revoked if the defendant violates the rules imposed or commits a new offense, which could result in the sentence being enforced in custody.

At the same time, prosecutors stated that they lacked sufficient evidence to sustain charges against three young men who had been detained during the investigation. Due to that lack of proof, the court ordered their dismissal and fully cleared them from the proceedings.
